A Huge Thank You to Our Incredible Authors!

One of the highlights of the day was the amazing storytime sessions led by some of the most talented and passionate authors in the children's literature world. We are incredibly grateful to these authors for making the Woke Babies Summer Party so special and inspiring for everyone who attended.

  • Laura Henry-Allain MBE brought her beloved characters Jo Jo and Gran Gran to life, captivating the young audience with their adventures. Her reading was a heartwarming reminder of the importance of family and cultural heritage.

  • Marvyn Harrison shared the empowering story of I Love Me, a beautiful celebration of self-love and confidence. His reading left a lasting impression on both the children and their parents, reinforcing the message that every child is special and worthy of love.

  • Omari McQueen delighted the crowd with Fantastic Families, a story that celebrates diversity in all its forms. Omari’s reading was a joyful exploration of what makes each family unique and special, and it resonated deeply with everyone present.

  • Lanisha Butterfield graced us with a beautiful reading of Flower Block, a story filled with imagination and wonder. Her storytelling transported the children to a world of creativity, where they could see themselves as the heroes of their own stories.

We cannot thank these authors enough for their time, passion, and dedication to inspiring the next generation. Their stories not only entertained but also empowered the children, making the day truly unforgettable.

Fun for the Whole Family!

The Woke Babies CIC Summer Party was not just about stories—there was something for everyone to enjoy! The event featured a lively disco hosted by @amigopartiesuk, where children danced their hearts out to their favorite tunes. The air was filled with the sweet scent of candyfloss, and there were plenty of games and activities to keep everyone entertained.

One of the most exciting parts of the day was the chance for children to choose a free book using the tokens they received upon entry. The sight of young readers eagerly selecting their next adventure was a testament to the power of stories and the importance of representation in literature.

Supporting Black-Owned Businesses

The Summer Party also featured a marketplace showcasing a variety of products from Black-owned businesses. Attendees had the opportunity to shop for beautiful dolls from @Biankha and Friends, stylish croc charms from @Crocs Charms With Soul, and unique bags, cards, and tops from @Fefus Designs. It was wonderful to see the community come together to support these talented entrepreneurs and to celebrate the creativity and diversity they bring to their products.
